Time snakes, energy snakes and finding the ladder

Time is a fickle friend. In the past I have been so bored and depressed that time drags on slowly, each day seeming like a month and each hour feeling like a week. A lack of purpose and chronic lack of enthusiasm, energy and motivation make time stand still.

The opposite is now true. My purpose and enthusiasm are so great that each hour passes in the blink of an eye.

“Time is what we want most, but …. what we use worst.”
William Penn

So many thoughts are buzzing around there are not enough hours in the day to plan properly let alone do any of the actual work.

My life is riddled with time snakes. When I manage to get them under control the energy snakes put in an appearance.

Confused about my reference to snakes? You can read about snakes here.

“You will never find time for anything. If you want time you must make it.”
Charles Buxton

There are ideas of how to improve your time management here.

Time to change hats

For a moment I need to stop being a writer. I need to stop thinking about the next issue of the magazine. Plans for the book, the on-line community and CANBACE Day need to be put aside.

My brain needs the time and space to REALLY think about how to move forward.

In other words, it’s time to put on my business analysis hat again and find the ladder.

“Time management is an oxymoron. Time is beyond our control, and the clock keeps ticking
regardless of how we lead our lives. Priority management is the answer to
maximizing the time we have.”
John C. Maxwell

We to put aside our 2018 map and reach for a blank piece of paper. Rather than amending last year’s vision and plan we need to start from scratch.

We need to confirm our vision for 2019. Then we need to focus on our priorities.

Some difficult decisions may need to be made.

However, this is the price to pay if we want to see our vision for 2019 become a reality.

What are the headlines?

The Magazine

We LOVE the magazine and are so proud of our achievements. Our contributors are amazing. Yet isn’t not all a bed of roses. It’s taking up ALL of our time and energy. When we launched the magazine in December 2017, we hadn’t thought of CANBACE and I wasn’t ready to finish “Unbreak My Heart”.

A difficult decision has been made.

We’ve decided to change the number of magazine issues per year to four. Publishing a new issue every other month is a huge undertaking. We get one issue out and must start working on the next issue immediately. There is no downtime from it and little time to focus on anything else.

To ensure that existing subscribers are not out of pocket we will ensure that their subscription still gives them access to six issues.

We are also changing the publication date to the 1st of the month. This will make it easier to keep a track of the subscriptions and which issues subscribers have access to.

New schedule and themes

time

By necessity Creating A New, Beautiful And Courageous Existence includes making some hard choices. However, our own personal well-being needs to be a priority. Even if that means making changes that have an impact of the people we love or a tribe that we strive to support.

There are other changes afoot that will be announced when the time (ha ha ha) is right!

“Start by doing what’s necessary, then what’s possible, and suddenly
you are doing the impossible.”
St Francis of Assisi

Practice makes perfect

It’s all well and good writing about things in theory: however, we need to start applying what we learn. Are you struggling with time snakes? If you are, look at changes that you could make to help you have the time, energy and motivation to make life that little bit easier.

To help you keep track of all your work for the daily activities mentioned, we have created a Monthly Diary for you to record your progress. To download your copy of “My February Canbace Diary” please click here.

Be kind to yourself …

In CANBACE friendship!
